Having survived the adventure and terror of Halloween, we spent the weekend recovering from the excitement. Charlie, having slept through most the scary holiday, used this time to open his eyes more and take in his surrounding. He will be somewhat disappointed to realize later in life that our decor wasn't a special, frightening arrangement - we're just kinda cluttered. Photos follow: |

We gave out 200 pieces of candy in 45 minutes. Do you need to know more? Oh yeah, Katie aka the Mermaid Fairy or Fairy Mermaid and Maddy aka the Pony Dress Clown had a great time extorting candy from our many neighbors (I haven't weighed it, but I'd say about 5 pounds each). Earlier in the day, we carved overpriced pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns and have subsequently been exploring pumpkin recipes - I've made a couple gallons of pumpkin soup, a pumpkin pie, and still have a container or two remaining for use ... Enjoy the following photos ... |

In other news from last weekend (because Charlie is only the center ring of our large circus), Katie and Maddy (and I) squeezed not one but two birthday parties in. With new pals Veronika and Marie both turning two, Katie and Maddy gathered their finest party attire and had a grand old time. For Veronika's intimate affair, Katie and Maddy wore complimentary pink, puffy dresses then the next day headed to Marie's party in stylish mermaid outfits. Well done, girls. Photos follow: |

After four nights in the hospital and a much too long wait for the bill on Monday morning ... gee, is it afternoon already, Charlie and Denise came home to a cute baby's welcome. Just like the Romans did with triumphal generals, Katie followed Charlie around whispering "You grow up and get less cute. You grow up and get less cute." (If this reference doesn't make sense to you, you should have paid more attention in Classical Western History class). Anyway, most of you aren't checking out the site for my wit so on to the photos ... just click read more ... |

Charlie had his first calculus lesson today, but didn't do as well as we would have liked as he kept wandering off to walk on water. What? Your kids don't do this as well? Of course, it is easy to continue imagining Charlie's brilliance and perfection while he still mostly sleeps. I know it will change, but right now I allow myself to imagine halos. Charlie had a few new visitors today. Aunt Vanessa thought Charlie was so cute he'd make a great accessory to go with her Louis Vuitton handbag. High praise from Auntie V. Auntie Jenny was also finally allowed to see Charlie. She would have seen him sooner, but she had a cold and her boss (that would be me) was mean and not taking any chances. So it is good to have Jenny off the sick list and on the Charlie fan list. Obligatory photos to follow: |
